Amid the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020, America faced a racial reckoning many years in the making. With increased news reports and imagery documenting racial injustice, many Black Americans looked inward to their experiences. One American was financial planner Chloe Moore of Finacial Staples. At the recommendation of a fellow financial planner, Chloe hired me for her copywriting needs. As a Black female business owner, she mustered the courage to share her racial injustice journey in her professional life. She felt empowered that her story might educate both perpetrators of racism and allies. Recognizing the sense of urgency to speak Chloe's truth, I edited a bylined article that has received accolades from many in the financial planning sector.
